The MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) is an annual membership program for technical departments in the area of Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, and Information Technology. As a member, a department receives an MSDNAA subscription that includes Microsoft software. The software must be used for instructional and research purposes. The program is intended for local graduate and undergraduate students.

Terms and Conditions for Use

1. You must be registered in a credit course within the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SCIS) at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) or you must be a faculty or staff member of the SCIS department to be eligible for membership in the MSDN Academic Alliance. An automatic email with login instructions will be sent to all eligible persons. Please note that your login user ID is in the following format: username@nsu.nova.edu.

2. You may not give copies of your MSDNAA software to anyone else. Each qualifying individuals must obtain the software via the method(s) set up by the MSDNAA Site Administrator with his/her own credentials.

Not all MSDNAA software is available for burning on campus,
and may have to be ordered through MSDNAA Media Sales.

3. After checking out your software, you may obtain a copy at the Alvin Shirman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center located on the Main campus of Nova Southeastern University by recording it to your own blank CD. The MSDNAA software available on campus is stored as an ISO image. Please following the directions of the CD burning software on how to burn an ISO image. Some software has the option of receiving them by mail directly from Microsoft. The software is shipped through Media Sales and requires the individual to pay the shipping costs.

4. In order to install MSDNAA software, you may need an Academic Alliance Product Key or Serial Number. The Product Key or Serial Number will be issued to the person requesting such software via email and/or the MSDNAA check-out system. It is prohibited to disclose the Product Key or Serial Number to anyone else.

5. The tools and technologies provided through the MSDN Academic Alliance program may be used for instructional and non-commercial research only.

Instructional purposes are defined as conducting educational classes, labs, or related programs for teaching and/or learning the Products or concepts related to the Products that are part of this program.

Research purposes are defined as conducting not-for-profit research projects.

6. When you are no longer a registered student in a department that is a member of the MSDN Academic Alliance, you may no longer receive updates for your personal use computer. However, you may continue to use previously installed products on your computer, provided you continue to follow program guidelines.

7. If you violate the terms of the MSDN End User License Agreement (EULA) and the Amendment to the EULA, or the terms and conditions, the MSDNAA Program Administrator will demand confirmation of removal of the program software from your personal-use computer and take further disciplinary action.

Please note: Not all software housed on this site is available for burning at the
Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center. These
titles may be obtained by purchasing the data disk via MSDNAA Media Sales.

If you are in a Graduate SCIS (GSCIS Masters or Doctoral) program, please contact Mark Powell at powelma@nova.edu to retrieve your MSDNAA system login. If you are an undergraduate student, contact Matthew He at hem@nova.edu for your account information. Academic Computing Facilities does not maintain this information.
